The Chief Minister paid floral tribute on memorial of martyrs in Gandhi Park
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat paid floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial at the Gandhi Park here today on the occasion of Vijay Diwas .
The Chief Minister said that Indian Army had compelled the 90 thousand soldiers of Pakistan to surrender on 16th December 1971. Later, political scenario changed and Bangladesh emerged as new nation on the global map.
India’s victory over Pakistan, has given India a new identity on strategic , political and international front. Chief Minister said that 248 brave soldiers from Uttarakhand sacrificed their lives in this war while 78 soldiers injured. 74 soldiers were awarded
Bravery Medals during 1971 war among them 34 brave soldiers were belonged to Dehradun. Chief Minister Shri Trivendra said that Uttarakhand is known as soldier’s State and appreciated. Many dignitaries from Uttarakhand are working on the higher posts in security and armed forces which is a matter of pride for the State.
Eco Task Force of the Army also involved in rejuvenation of Rispana and Kosi rivers.
On this occasion, Mr. Vinod Chamoli, MLA, Shri Ganesh Joshi, MLA Mr. Kunwar Pranav Champion, General Anand Swaroop, District Soldier Welfare Officer, Colonel DK Kaushik also paid tribute to martyrs by offering a wreath on the martyrs’ memorial.
