हैदर अली ने 1781 में ब्रिटिश सेना के खिलाफ पल्लीलोर का युद्ध लड़ा।
भारत के पहले मज़दूर संगठन के रूप में श्रमजीवी संघ की स्थापना 1870 में की गई।
जेट इंधन वाले विश्व के पहले विमान ने 1939 को जर्मनी से पहली उड़ान भरी।
भारतीय सशस्त्र सेना की प्रथम महिला जनरल मेजर जनरल जी अली राम मिलिट्री नर्सिंग सेवा की निदेशक 1976 को नियुक्त हुई।

पाँचवीं, सातवीं, आठवीं और नौवीं लोकसभा के सदस्य आनन्द सिंह का निधन 1997 में हुआ।
भारतीय फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध निर्माता व निर्देशक ऋषिकेश मुखर्जी का निधन 2006 को हुआ था।
