MoU of Rs 3600 crore investment schemes in tourism sector !
In the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tourism Minister Mr. Satpal Maharaj, MoU of Rs 3600 crore investment schemes related to various tourism projects were signed at Secretariat on Thursday. On behalf of the state government, Tourism Secretary Mr. Dilip Jawalkar signed the MoU. On the occasion, the MoUs that were signed primarily includes ropeway and hospitality sector by K.K. logistics Rs 1885 crore, Laser Retreat Pvt Ltd for hotel business Rs 513 crore, Ropeway sector by Anantraj Rs 275 crore and Rs 200 crore projects by Haldiram. Chief Minister said that tourism is an important sector for the economy of state
Chief Minister said that initiative being taken by entrepreneurs in different areas of tourism is good sign for tourism of the state. Chief Minister welcomed the investors and assured the necessary assistance from the state government.
Tourism Minister Mr. Satpal Maharaj said that in Uttarakhand, there is immense potential for investment in tourism sector. He said that effort is to present the unexplored tourist destinations of the state to the country and the world. Various schemes are being worked out for this and investment friendly tourism policy has been framed.
Secretary Tourism Dilip Jawalkar said that extensive efforts are being made by the tourism department to attract more investors for the development and management of the infrastructure for the Destination Investors Summit, being held on October 07 and 08 in Dehradun. He said that so far MoUs of Rs 13,328 crores have been signed pertaining to various tourism projects, besides MOU of Rs 3600 crores signed on Thursday.
Secretary Tourism said that the major projects for which MoUs have been signed include Hotel Projects, Tent City, Ropeway Tourism Infrastructure Development, various Projects in Waste Management and Hospitality Sector. He said that after giving industry status to tourism by the state government, the investors’ attraction towards tourism projects has increased. With Single Window System, Ease of Doing Business and including all incentives for promotion, the tourism sector projects are emerging as an attractive package among the investors. Tourism Department has planned that tourist destination located at higher reaches of the state should be connected to the ropeway, so that the journey of Hill Station can be made easier and more exciting. For this, investors are being attracted to the Ropeway project. In addition, there is a plan to invite investors in the areas of Hospitality and Wellness. He said that Tehri Dam is emerging as the preferred destination for tourists.
On this occasion Mr. K.S.Panwar, Industrial Advisor, Chief Minister, Director Industries Mr. Sudhir Nautial, various entrepreneurs and representatives of PHD Chamber of Commerce, Uttarakhand and officials of different departments were present.
