Chief Justice Deepak Mishra recommends Gogoi’s name.
Senior Judge of the Supreme Court, Ranjan Gogoi will be the next Chief Justice of India. The present Chief Justice of India, Deepak Mishra, has sent the recommendation of his name to the government. This tradition has been that before the retire, CJI sends the name of his successor to the government. Justice Deepak Mishra is retiring on October 2 and after him is the senior judge Justice Gogoi.
Earlier, the Law Ministry had sought Justice Deepak Mishra’s recommendation on the name of the next Chief Justice. According to tradition, Chief Justice recommends the name of most senior judge. It is worth noting that Justice Ranjan Gaooi was named in the four Supreme Court judges who had held a press conference against Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, after which the law enacted the corridor and the politics of the country was also heated.
Serious charges were imposed
Justice Gogoi was appointed judge of the Guwahati High Court on February 28, 2001. He is also a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was made Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on February 12, 2011 and became the judge of the Supreme Court in April 2012.
